The evaluation
process employed by The Iowa Book Doctors is both intensive and
thorough. So that we can offer you the best editorial treatment, every
project is assigned to three different readers, each with a fresh, distinct
perspective.
These readers approach
the manuscript and each produces an individual analysis. Then the readers
work together as an editorial board, to synthesize their assessments
and incorporate their distinct voices into a larger analysis, so that
they can offer you one simple document to help your work achieve its
full potential.
The use of multiple
readers ensures that issues of subjectivity (i.e. personal taste, our
gender, our backgrounds, etc.) do not cloud the final analysis. After
discussion, we complete a thorough line-edit of the work, and then write
an analysis that comprehensively details the strengths and weaknesses
of the manuscript. The final analysis explains the revisions that need
to be made before the manuscript can be submitted to publishers.
